EMS Division Services
The EMS Division of our organization was established in 1985 to enhance emergency response services and consists of the Filer QRU. The Filer Quick Response Unit (QRU), holds a State Certification as an EMT-B level Emergency Response Unit. The EMS Division plays a crucial role in our district, being involved in over 50% of the emergency call-outs.
To optimize our resources and response times, many of our dedicated on-call volunteers undergo comprehensive training as both firefighters and QRU members. This cross-training approach enables us to effectively utilize our team members and provide efficient emergency services. Our personnel consists of skilled emergency medical technicians and emergency first responders.
The QRU operates within a significantly expansive response area covering 496 square miles, serving a population of nearly 10,000 residents. We respond promptly to various emergencies, including medical incidents, motor vehicle accidents, fires, and rescue situations, offering Basic Life Support (BLS) services. For Advanced Life Support (ALS) requirements, we collaborate with the experienced professionals of Magic Valley Paramedics.
Beyond emergency response, the QRU actively engages with the community through public relations initiatives, educational programs, and community events. Our goal is to foster a strong connection with the public we serve and promote safety and well-being within our district.
Currently, the QRU operates three fully equipped ambulances, ensuring we have the necessary resources to provide comprehensive and timely care to those in need.
